What this chapter covers
This chapter covers mineral raw materials ranging from salt and sulphur to earths and stone, plastering materials, lime and cement. To remain here a material may only be crude or washed, crushed, ground, powdered, sifted, or concentrated by mechanical or physical means such as flotation and magnetic separation (crystallisation excluded). Goods that have been roasted, calcined, obtained by mixing, or worked beyond what the heading text allows fall outside the chapter. Anti-dusting agents may be added provided they do not make the product suitable for a specific rather than general use.

Import duty rates across this chapter
The range is always computed WITHIN a single column: showing the EU column and the all-other-countries column as one range would misstate the duty. The binding rate depends on the twelve-digit code and the country of origin.
